Ghost Recon Introduces Battle Crates & New DLC

Written by

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is about to get its third PvP expansion. The free update, called Extended Ops, will be available tomorrow, January 25 and will bring exclusive new maps and a brand new game mode called Extraction.

Extraction mode tasks one team with locating and escorting two "High-Value Targets" out of a conflict zone. Naturally, the other team is tasked with stopping them and keeping the hostages where they are. Ubisoft says it will take a lot of strategy to stay alive and win the round, regardless of which side you're on.

There are also two new maps coming to the game. Both the Institute and Garage maps will be available for Quickplay and Ranked. Like previous PvP expansions, there will be new gear introduced for both the base game and PvP modes. Extended Ops releases on all platforms on January 25.

The last free DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands was a Predator-themed expansion called Jungle Storm. It brought a limited-time mission to the game where you square off against the classic character the Predator, to mark the film's 30-year-anniversary. Jungle Storm also introduced new cosmetics, new maps, and two classes to the game.

Battle Crates will be available in Ghost Recon: Wildlands before the end of the month, as part of the Extended Ops update. Battle Crates are loot chests that contain a random assortment of cosmetic items.

They can be purchased from the in-game store for 400 Credits, and unlocks three items you don’t already own, meaning no duplicates. When the update releases, all players will get two free crates; the Spec Ops Crate, and the Ghost War Crate. These can be redeemed through the Ubisoft Club.

The names of the crates denote the contents. The Spec Ops focusing on single-player and co-op items, while the Ghost War Crate unlocks items for use in the Ghost War PvP mode.

Spec Ops Crates contain Epic weapons, Exotic weapons, vehicles and other cosmetics. Ghost War Crates also include Exotic weapons, customisation items, and a new line of skins only found in these boxes, called Icons. Though they do include weapons, they’ll only be reskins of existing ones.

All items, excluding Icons, can also be purchased directly in any of the store packs available since launch.

Ubisoft said it does not intend to include anything that affect gameplay, or player progression in Battle Crates. You can expect to find over 200 items in them in Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities.

Is the Predator Coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands?

Written by

As we reported earlier Ghost Recon Wildlands is bringing out a new update tomorrow called Jungle Storm.  However it also seems that a new event is about to be unleashed and it could involve a certain character called the Predator.  Ubisoft will release more details on the event simply called "The Hunt" at 6pm today, however a trailer which all but shows the legendary character was released by Ubisoft.

Predator Event will launch alongside the Jungle Storm update. This free update to Wildlands will add new modes, maps, and ranked play. We think the Bolivian landscape on Ghost Recon Wildlands would be a perfect hunting ground for the Predator so stay tuned for more news.

New Update brings in new Maps and Modes for Ghost War

Ubisoft have released their first update for Ghost War, the PvP companion to Ghost Recon Wildlands.  With this update it has brought new maps,  6 different maps to be exact on two different modes, Uplink and elimination.  The Uplink mode players take on another team of four in an effort to "control and defend an access point in the centre of the map.  The new maps available for this mode are Warehouse, Oil Rush, Burnout and Sub Factory.  The original deathmatch style mode for Ghost War is now named Elimination. Two new maps have been added to this mode: Farm Town and Cartel Depot.

Also along with the new game modes and map's, Ghost Recon has a new Class, The Disruptor.  This new Assault class comes with the perk of being able to jams enemies around him, removing their access to the mini-map and their ability to see marks. Season Pass owners will have immediate access to the class, while the other players will be able to purchase the Disruptor with Prestige Credits after a small period of Season Pass exclusivity. There has also been quite a few tweaks to the game which can be found in full on the official website.  Ubisoft have also released a new road map which indicates a new update every month until April 2018.

New Ghost Recon Challenge

Ghost Recon Legends: Day of The Skull Part 1

Ubisoft have today announced details of a new challenge for Ghost Recon Wildlands.  November 9th is the Day of the Skulls in Bolivia.  This is a festival which is embedded in Bolivian culture.  Taking place a week after the Day of the Dead festival,  it is celebrated by paying tribute to the actual skulls of one’s ancestors, known as natitas. The natitas are adorned with flowers, hats, coca leaves, cigarettes, and money in order to honour them during this special time.

In the Bolivia of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands, a country in war against narco-terrorism, family and traditions play a key role in giving people hope. The Santa Blanca know this, and in order to squash any thoughts the people may hold in their hearts for a rebellion, cartel members have plundered the El Bosque Quemado Cemetery to prevent the celebration of the Day of the Skulls festival.

The mission, is to give the people back their traditions and show the Santa Blanca Cartel where they belong – with the skulls. Each of the 21 missing skulls have been hidden in a different province of Bolivia. Over the next three weeks, we will release one video with hints to the locations of seven of the skulls every week. Find the skulls, bring them home, and collect the rewards

Wildlands Documentary Released Now

Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Wildlands Documentary  Is Out Now

Well a good while ago now it was published that Ubisoft had financed a documentary to be released a companion with the Games release of March 2017.  Well nearly eight months later it is finally been released.  The documentary which features George Jung, the drug kingpin who back in the 70's and 80's was largely responsible for a vast amount of the drug trade in the States.  Director Colin Offland said in a statement regarding the delay in release, "When we finished the original edit, we felt that there were a few loose strands connecting the past to the modern-day cocaine trade and it was a key decision to delay the launch and protect the integrity of the story that we wanted to tell.”

Its a pretty good documentary and well worth watching and can be rent or bought from Amazon and itunes now.  Check out the trailer below.

Ghost Recon Thermal Removed

Written by

Some players were left disappointed after UBISOFT removed the thermal perk from the majority of classes.  Due to a large number of complaints that it was to "OP" in game, it has now been restricted to support classes and even then it can only be used with a drone.

 *Details from UBISOFT patch notes

Thermal Vision perk balancing changes. We had the time to iterate on the thermal vision design and were able to find a fix that we believe won’t need to be furthered addressed. The temporary fix that we communicated about earlier proved after testing that it wasn’t very effective, and didn’t perform well enough technically speaking to be an actual solution. Now, the Thermal vision perk will only be available to support classes only (as opposed to being available for everyone) and can only be used while operating the drone. This also meant that we needed to take a Support exclusive perk and exchange it with the Thermal Goggles perk, so we moved Quick Hands to the multiclass category. Please let us know your thoughts about this change.

Whilst I admit that using the thermals in game was a bit OTT it was a bit of a silly mistake from Ubisoft to have included it in the first place.  Now there are a few people who are a bit pissed off.
